Join the Battle Against Food Insecurity in Baltimore
There is a hunger crisis in Baltimore City. Nearly 24% of households are food insecure – more than twice the 10.5% state and national average – meaning almost one quarter of Baltimore City families simply don’t have enough to eat. Imagine not having enough food. For too many in our communities, the daily battle with food insecurity is real.
What if you didn’t have enough food?
Could you decide which of your kids got breakfast and which did not? Could you make that decision? Nearly one quarter of all Baltimore City parents, grandparents, and caregivers make those choices every day– who eats and who does not. It is a devastating choice that no one should ever have to make.
Far too many of Baltimore City’s children and families lack consistent access to food. Hunger rates among our most vulnerable population continue to rise at a heart-breaking pace. We live in the wealthiest, most powerful country in history, yet there are families who just cannot feed themselves.
The Bradley and Nikki Bozeman Foundation created the SYNC Program® (Supporting Your Neighbors and Community) and through SYNC®, launched its first sustained food security hub at Baltimore’s Mount Pleasant Community Development Corporation – SYNC® Mount Pleasant provides weekly food security to 400 Baltimore families through its distribution of non-perishable food boxes to hungry families. Each box contains enough food to feed 3 meals per day to a household of 4 people for 5 days. Fresh produce, dairy, and bread supplement the non-perishable food.
Since July 2020, The Bradley and Nikki Bozeman Foundation has distributed over 1 million meals.
More must be done to support our neighbors and communities who are battling food insecurity! In the coming months, The Bradley and Nikki Bozeman Foundation will launch 5 additional SYNC® food distribution sites throughout Baltimore City, and we need your help. Each SYNC® site serves over 20,000 weekly meals to children, families, and seniors who rely on the generosity of friends, neighbors, and charitable partners like you to feed themselves. We cannot do this alone!
Each site costs $260,000 a year to feed 400 families 3 meals per day.
Please consider making a tax-deductible charitable donation to the Bradley and Nikki Bozeman Foundation to help feed hungry families. Together we can make difference in the fight against food insecurity!
